MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — Officials in a southern New Jersey town plan to discipline some volunteer firefighters after a sign drew unwanted attention.
The sign used slightly vulgar language to ask people to show their breasts. It was displayed over the weekend below the Williamstown Fire Company's banner in the beach town of Wildwood. A photo of it ended up on social media.
Monroe Township Mayor Michael Gabbianelli tells the South Jersey Times (http://bit.ly/1mdH132 ) it does not represent the Gloucester County town the right way. The mayor says it was probably a joke that got carried away.
He says those responsible will likely be suspended.
The fire company posted an apology on its website. The banner was flown on a balcony in Wildwood, which was hosting a state firefighters' convention over the weekend.
