ATLANTA (AP) — Clark Atlanta University officials say the school is hosting a group of about two dozen young African leaders for a program focused on business and entrepreneurship.
Clark Atlanta is one of 20 schools across the country participating in the Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders through July 25.
University officials say the program is part of an initiative by President Barack Obama's administration aimed at supporting young Africans through academic coursework, leadership training, mentoring and networking.
Clark Atlanta professor of economics Mesfin Bezuneh is director of the university's fellowship program. Bezuneh says the initiative is practical considering business activity in African countries and developing nations.
Organizers say 500 participants were chosen for the national program from a group of more than 50,000.
