PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) — Pawtucket-based toymaker Hasbro is helping the city's school system tackle bullying.
The Providence Journal (http://bit.ly/1fRdBoR ) reports that Hasbro on Monday is announcing a $130,000 grant to train teachers in all 17 Pawtucket schools in a popular anti-bullying technique developed by a San Francisco nonprofit.
No Bully describes its method as a process for responding to bullying by "leveraging student empathy." It also targets cyberbullying.
More than 800 teachers will be trained on the system and the nonprofit will work with Pawtucket schools for the rest of the school year.
Hasbro senior vice president, Karen Davis, started the push to bring No Bully to the city as part of the toymaker's "kindness initiative."
Davis says it's a proactive step in the fight against bullying.
