ROMULUS, Mich. (AP) — Activists say the relocation of a public bus stop at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport places a hardship on those who are visually impaired.
They say the new location is farther away than it previously was from an airport terminal. Members of the National Federation of the Blind of Michigan gathered Sunday afternoon outside the McNamara Terminal to protest the move.
The Detroit News reports Mike Conway of Wayne County Airport Authority says the bus stop was moved last September out of safety concerns. Conway says some buses were letting passengers exit and board in the middle of traffic lanes.
Conway stressed the airport is compliant with all state and federal laws.
