LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — University of Louisiana at Lafayette officials joined leaders from the Instituto Tecnologico Superior de Centla in Lafayette to sign an agreement for future collaboration.
The Tabasco, Mexico-based school will collaborate with Louisiana-Lafayette in the areas of higher education and technology advancements.
KATC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1ww1cin ) the agreement includes research and development projects along with student and faculty swaps.
Mark Zappi, Louisiana-Lafayette's College of Engineering dean, says initially the pact will focus on STEM areas — science, technology, engineering and mathematics. But, he says there's opportunity to move into areas such as business and education.
Tabasco is located along the Gulf of Mexico in the southeastern portion of Mexico and is one of the country's leading oil and natural gas producers.
