LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Nevada casino regulator testified that he never told a judge that investigators posed as Internet repairmen to gain entry to high-roller suites at Caesars Palace. Nevada Gaming Control Board Agent Ricardo Lopez testified that they had no warrant when they entered the room in an investigation of what prosecutors say was an illegal online sports gambling operation.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — An 18-year-old Reno man has died in what police say was a gang-related shooting. Juan Rameriz died from injuries he suffered in the shooting Tuesday in North Reno. Police an argument between two groups of people escalated and parties from both sides produced weapons. Several people left the area in a white car.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Longtime Nevada political columnist Jon Ralston is joining the Reno Gazette-Journal. Executive editor Kelly Scott says Ralston will begin writing exclusive columns on Jan. 7. They'll appear online and in the paper's Wednesday and Sunday editions. Ralston's television show was canceled earlier this month after nearly 14 years on the air.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Cody Doolin's driving layup with less than a second remaining in overtime last night gave UNLV a 75-73 win over Portland. Doolin had a similar play at the end of regulation but fed Dwayne Morgan for a layup at the buzzer. It was Morgan's only basket before his shot with 25 seconds left in overtime put UNLV up 73-71.
