BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A conservation group and the Nez Perce Tribe are filing a lawsuit against three federal agencies seeking to stop a gold mine exploration project in central Idaho. The lawsuit contends the agencies didn't adhere to federal environmental laws in approving the three-year Golden Meadows Exploration Project proposed by Midas Gold.
CHALLIS, Idaho (AP) — Conservationist groups hoping to see a new national monument in central Idaho have added about 21,000 acres to the plan. The Idaho Conservation League, Wilderness Society and others want the Obama administration to create a national monument in the Boulder-White Clouds. The Times-News reports that the additional acres include Malm Gulch, an area containing petrified sequoia trees.
SANDPOINT, Idaho (AP) — A northern Idaho man who shot an Elmira resident in the face during a home invasion has pleaded guilty to attempted murder. The Bonner County Daily Bee reports that prosecutor say 19-year-old Joseph Cleveland fired at the victim from outside the home after the home invasion on March 10.
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — A northern Idaho judge says the public won't be allowed in the preliminary hearing for a 14-year-old boy charged with killing his father and younger brother. The Spokesman-Review reports Judge Clark A. Peterson made the ruling at the request of the boy's attorney. Eldon G. Samuel III is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
