SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah County board is again waiting to make a decision on a Snowbird ski resort expansion into American Fork Canyon following a contentious meeting about whether the project could stir up old mine waste. The Daily Herald newspaper in Provo reports that Sheriff Jim Tracy once threatened to clear the room if the crowd at the Utah County Board of Adjustment didn't settle down on Thursday. The decision was ultimately postponed for 60 days.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Mormon church opposes a bill that would allow Utah residents with certain medical conditions to consume edible pot products. The Friday statement from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints could be a serious blow to one of two proposals in front of the Utah Legislature, where a majority of lawmakers are members of the state's predominant faith.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Federal immigration authorities say they arrested 82 people who were subject to deportation and had criminal convictions on their records. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents said in a news release Friday that the arrests came after a week-long public safety operation.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A panel of Utah lawmakers has heartily endorsed a resolution declaring pornography a public health crisis. Republican state Sen. Todd Weiler, a Mormon, contends that children are being exposed to pornography at an earlier age and that viewing the material leads to relationship problems. The Utah Senate health committee unanimously approved Weiler's resolution Friday.
