I'm not an "East sider" but, I don't agree with property tax increases that affect the fixed income elderly. Some day, we'll all be elderly and retired. How would you feel about a tax increase that you can't cover without giving up food or medicine or something like that. I feel sorry for the elderly that have to sacrifice.
The problem isn't the split district..... The voters decided to split and it is a democracy we live in. So West Jordan has financial problems. Why? Easy answer. Too many kids for the tax base. West Jordan families are large like 4,5,6 + kids per household. They are going to have to take the responsibility to pay for the larger families that place the burden of large class sizes on the system. Pay a student fee per pupil. Stop trying to pawn off the financial rersponsibility on small families or elderly retired couples or widows in the form of property tax increases. Bare the burden of your family choice that you made. PAY THE PIPER!
Not quite.... Utah is one of 23 state controlled and approved OSHA programs. No federal OSHA investigation is conducted. Under Fed. OSHA all deaths and the hospitalization of 3 or more workers for other than observation and or diagnosis, must be investigated. Utah has a strickter program. The hospitalization of 1 worker requires UOSH to investigate. The time period for reporting to a live OSHA comliance officer is 8 hours. An accident like this will be closely looked at for guarding. Shafts should be protected by a 42"high top rail and a 21" high midrail. The rail must be constructed as to withstand a 200# downward and outward force without deflecting 3". Something here went wrong. Either the rail system failed or it wasn't in place. There are 4 types of contracotr to be looked at and possibly fined by OSHA. 1) Controlling contractor. 2) Affected contractor. 3) Contributing contractor. 4) Correcting contractor. They may be the same or different entities. Serious vilations run $7000. Wilful violations can run to $70,000.
Vancouver.... an embarisment to the I.O.C. Not even close to what Salt Lake City had. Their snow was slush. They had an athlete killed because of poor safety planning. Even their torch didn't work properly during the opening session. Oh Canada.... Oh what a joke!
Oh come now Senator Butters..... You know that the 12th grade was the best 3 years of your life! W@hat a Moron. Thank the Big G I don't live in West Jordan and have this Bafoon representing me in the Senate.
Just wait until Senator Jones passes her "Noise Bill".... SB 106 is just plane bad for the economy here. She is trying to regulate loud noise without any concern for the impact it will have on small busines here in Utah. She has proposed to do away with aftermarket performance muffler systems. Not based on sound or noise output, but based on whether or not it has a factory installed sticker on the muffler. Thanks Ms. Jones.... There goes my performance system that allows my diesel truck to get 23 mpg highway/18 mpg city. By the way Ms. Jones... better fuel economy means LESS AIR POLLUTION! Or haven't you looked at the sky this winter along the Wasatch Front. We are the worst Air Q. in the country. So let's pass a bill that will increase air pollution while it lowers the sales tax collected on performance car, truck, and motorcycle equipment while it takes sales from the automotice and motorcycle shops. Where does the state propose to make up the taxes lost from these sales? another tax increase somewhere else I guess. Why doesn't the legislature look at all aspects before they act upon the well being of the limited economy here in Utah? Vote no on SB106. It's a bad bill.
