I agree with 'florida gators'. What is collegiate athletics, if not the opportunity for student athletes to improve their character while earning a degree? The point should be for Blount (and Hout) to learn from this mistake, not ruin the rest of Blount's life, by shattering chances of an NFL career. His reputation is damaged, and that will be the lifelong natural consequence of what he did. I believe in giving a guy the chance to make corrections and improve. A season-long suspension might encourage him to quit more than make corrections. Reinstatement would give him the opportunity to change and improve, not so much as a player, but as a human being. If that's not what it's about, then why do we have athletics in college?
This article is very exciting to me. I believe in the opportunity to learn from mistakes and correct behavior. I always thought the season-long suspension was rash and heavy-handed. I think he has learned a very important lesson, and is a changed human being. Give him a second chance.
@Down rigger-
There will be a lot of people surprised by this USU offense on Saturday. Turbin's an unbelieveable player, and Utah State has had some success deploying him against all defenses. Look for him to have some big plays against the 62nd Defense in the country. This game will be a lot closer than a lot of people think, and if BYU's not ready, this could be the third most disappointing home game of the year (behind FSU and Utah).
Um... the Louisville game was Saturday, September 26th. Oregon was the previous week...
Anyway, it was an encouraging performance to see Utah bounce back, not only to where they were pre-Oregon, but to have their best game of the year.
Go Utes!!!
