Yah, we can really see how DC is having their voice heard here!! The article said that having this on the ballot violates the city's human rights legislation... What ever happened to "Government by the people, for the people"????
This is such a crock! Why should a terrorist from an unflagged enemy get constitutional rights? Maybe I missed something and this guy is actually a U.S. Citizen, but if not, WHAT THE HECK?? If I conspired and killed 3,000 people, do you think I would be afforded life in prison instead of the death penalty?
All I can say is WOW.
Charles~ There is an easy explanation for why homosexual lifestyle makes one so miserable.
"wickedness never was happiness"
I am no sociologist, but I would be willing to say that kids who otherwise are living a wholesome lifestyle, not involved in porn, promiscuity, drugs/alcohol, etc., and STILL struggle with same-sex attraction are ever bit as happy as their peers who do not have same sex attraction issues. Why?? Because they are not going against God's laws of happiness.
You do a great job of explaining it outside of religious terms, but I will be so bold to lay truth on the line.
If I take a toddler to the store and he sees a piece of candy that he wants, he might start throwing a fit to get it. I have a decision to make: 1) validate the fit and give him the candy 2) validate the fit by punishing him or 3) ignore the fit and keep shopping.
Options 1 and 2 only tell the child that by throwing a fit, he will get a reaction (sometimes positive, sometimes negative) but either way, the fit got something accomplished. The best way to make the fit go away is to ignore it. It is not validated and the child soon learns.
The sad reality is that the government is becoming more and more like a parent, controlling every aspect of our lives. What's worse, the gov. is a bad parent.
If you don't understand the analogy, it's probably because you are a toddler.
Any way you slice this story and the panzie-handed approach the Obama Administration has taken with these guys, this is bad news. The arrogance and complete and sheer stupidity of extending civilian's rights to war-crimes criminals is staggering. If I planned the 9-11 attacks and actually pulled it off, I highly doubt I would be treated with such respect!
It never ceases to amaze me how some people have become so incensed about Bush's administration that they have wholly turned anti-American. They somehow have convinced themselves that the attacks on 9-11 were fluke accidents and that there is no real war on terror... only politicians seeking desperately to bully nice guys half way around the world.
I wish we could round up all these people (yes, Palin's Ghost, if you haven't figured it out yet, I'm talking about you and your ilk) and ship them off to Afghanistan or Iraq so they can see first hand the devastation these dictators and terrorist organizations have wreaked on the people of those countries.
