It seems that everyone on this board fails to see just what led up to all this new taxation that is about to further dilute our income. A good scenario would be an individual in a private business. When business is good, that individual goes out and buys an expensive new house, a couple of new cars, and generally blows all of his extra income anywhere he/she can. When a slight hiccup occurs, this same individual can't afford the $5000 house payment, $1000 for the cars in addition to the boat, four wheelers, time share, etc..... This is what the government of Utah has done and now there is no money left for the basics of education, police, road repair (this is not the same as the current scam of "friends of government" contractor enrichment being passed as road repair)! Evidently, the republican run Utah legislature has done a great job of tax and spend similar to what is so widely criticized in the current federal government administration??? If you follow the money trail, you will find some very wealthy construction firms (Kem Gardner (Boyer Construction), I'm talking to you and your friends) taking in millions in new unnecessary projects. Have you noticed all the Taj Mahal county buildings, new fire stations (the old ones were just fine) and a multitude of other construction projects funneled out of you tax dollars. In short, Utah has made a priority of enriching local connected companies at the expense of education and basic services, and now wants to pull more money out of our pockets to make up the difference! I'm glad we all live in a conservative state!!

Bigballons, try to convince the partisan army of this and see how dumbed down this group really is! They criticize Obama for "tax and spend" but fail to look at what the Utah Republican legislature is doing with thier money. Bigger local construction firms are being spoon fed with your tax dollars on huge projects that really are not needed. Take a look at all the construction jobs that are happening around you. Better yet, look at your ever increasing property tax bill!

The economy of 3 years ago was being built on lending rules that allowed every Tom, Richard, and Harry to buy the stucco mansion of their dreams. When you have people in $450K homes that should only be able to afford half that, you have the makings of a false economy. This fall will be longer reaching than all the profiteers would hope. I welcome the economic retraction and the return to the sanity of living within your means!
