I think most of you haven't spent a second working for the government at Hill AFB. I have worked as a civilian up there for nine years, my father for 30 years. If it wasn't for the moderate pay and overtime no one in their right mind would work there. Supervisors are total idiots, mostly only in the positions because they are "family" to other supervisors. Management is terrible across the board up there at Hill. My fathers friend who worked with him for 20 years on base killed himself up ogden canyon with a shotgun to the mouth. I can't say it was all because his job environment, but it sure is a crap work environment and since most people spend just as much if not more of their waking hours at work then it does have a real impact on your mental status. Point of the matter is that something needs to be done about the management of the civilian workers up there, and not just stupid classes on suicide prevention or caring for your fellow worker. No one really cares much about their fellow worker up there. Also, the government needs to learn to fire people who can't do the job right and that would solve a lot of the problem. Half the supervisors up there don't know how to do any of the jobs they actually supervise.
