SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake police have arrested the third of three people suspected of robbing a Quiznos restaurant last week that resulted in one of them being shot by an employee.

Matthew Dean Forrest, 33, whose lasted listed address was in St. George, was taken into custody Monday, according to police. On Friday, Cody Shane Durrant, 36, of Kearns, was arrested.

The men are accused of participating in the June 21 robbery at Quiznos, 1775 S. 4130 West, just as the store was closing. Police say it was a "takeover-style robbery" with the intruders waiving a gun and locking the door behind them after entering. Two men and a woman entered the sandwich shop intending to rob it, according to police.

One of the three went to the employee by the counter and two others attempted to enter a back room where the second employee, a woman, was working.

The employee tried to barricade the door. She tried to use her body to push back against the door to keep the people out, police said. Eventually, the employee pulled out a handgun she was carrying and fired two to six shots around the door, striking the woman intruder.

Police said Monday that the woman remained hospitalized in serious condition. Neither her name nor age have been released pending her official arrest.

Detectives have not said whether they believe the Quiznos was robbed at random or if it was specially targeted.

The gun allegedly used by Durrant was a BB gun intended to look like a real weapon, according to a Salt Lake County Jail report.
