Think you're a social media whiz? Are you business-savvy? You could be even more so if you visiting online review sites.

If you don't think of review sites as a social media outlet then, honestly, you're missing out. Luckily for you, everyone is invited to this party of blunt, truthful and sometimes hilarious (see below) interactions! You, your neighbors, friends and co-workers can expose the truth, be it good or bad, about a business to help future customers.

Did you absolutely love your triple-cheese burger-taco with raisin-filled tomatoes? Tell everyone on the Better Business Bureau ... otherwise, they may never know what they were missing. Did you totally hate the man-bun advice you took from your local salon? Tell everyone on the BBB ... otherwise, sun’s out, man-buns out.

Of course, consumer reviews are a very serious matter. And you will find many hard-hitting answers to your local business questions on the BBB. However, as with all social media, you will also find the hilarious, thought-provoking, sad, angry and downright disgusting lowdowns on your local businesses. (As a courtesy, this article will skip over the bedbugs-in-burger review).

As a peek into the crazy world of the BBB online, the following are some of the funniest quotes from consumer reviews and complaints on the site.

1. Skinny, cold and bikini-clad in Vegas

This woman wished for a lack of dress code in her hotel.

"I worked very hard dieting and exercising to feel fabulous & look amazing on vacation at my first time in Las Vegas, and it was disappointing to be told to 'cover up' ... I do not appreciate such restrictions, and that alone is enough to make me never stay at the [hotel] again. This is not the Middle East!"

2. Getting to the bottom of the issue

One customer, speaking of her dislike of a brand of adult diapers, wrote, "The design is all wrong, made by people who probably design car engines and don't know about the human anatomy."

3. With apologies to high school English teacher

One customer was so irate with a store that their review began: "I want to begin by apologizing because the level of anger I have will not allow me to write this letter with correct grammar."

4. We're all beautiful

In response to a female customer's complaint, a matchmaker said the following:

"She said No to two guys because she felt she was not attracted to them, which is her right to do in my program. My opinion is that she should have said yes to both of those matches because they are on the same attractiveness level as she is ..."

5. 'Nuff said

One customer simply states about a store, with no more explanation, "They're criminals."

‘Nuff said, apparently.

6. What's that smell?

"I got some (brand) paper towels from (a store) a week ago. The paper towels stink! Especially after they get wet. Google '(brand) paper towels stink' & you'll see for years consumers have been complaining."

Maybe the brand needs a "do not get wet" warning on its towels? That probably wouldn't be good for sales, though.

7. Get it right

Everyone can sympathize with this review of a fast-food chain:

"So whoever gets this, if it is read at all, tell your people to get the order right, put enough fillings in the items sold and to not make/handle food and money at the same time."

Right? When was the last time a fast-food restaurant forgot to give you the sauce? Or better yet, when did it actually remember to give you the sauce?

8. Kids can be sneaky

"My 4-year-old daughter made 4 unauthorized purchases, which (website) is refusing to refund. My daughter made 4 purchases over a period of 6 months totaling 295.27."

Of course, you have to use your judgment on reviews. Here are three things to remember when sorting through reviews and complaints:

1. We all know most people don't leave a review on a business unless they are unhappy with their service. Remember that for every complaint there are an unknown number of happy customers.

2. Sometimes different locations of the same company will have different levels of customer service satisfaction.

3. Companies are made up of humans. Mistakes are going to happen. The question is how they handle those mistakes when they arise.

So don't delay. Get on the Better Business Bureau's Site, BBB.org, and start sharing—and reading—opinions today.
