BLUFFDALE — A fire has forced a Bluffdale family from their home and left their pet dog dead.
Neighbors called the Bluffdale Fire Department when a home at 15045 S. Rebellion Court caught fire around 7 P.M. on Thursday evening.
According to Bluffdale Fire Chief John Roberts, the family had left their home for about 30 minutes, and returned to see firefighters extinguishing the blaze that had damaged the basement and first floor.
While the family was safe, their dog was killed in the fire.
Roberts reported that the Red Cross is taking care of the displaced family.
While firefighters contained the fire damage to the first floor and basement, Roberts said the home sustained significant smoke damage and the supporting floor joists of the house had been compromised.
Roberts added that the damage to the roughly year-old home had left it uninhabitable for the foreseable future.
