A helpful stranger in the parking lot

Adrienne Everitt

“After eating at the Art City Trolley, I got my kids loaded in our minivan and realized I couldn’t leave. A truck was parked behind me, too close for me to back up. With cars parked all around me, I had very little space to maneuver and was trying to figure out how on earth I was going to get out of the parking lot. My 3-year-old twins were getting loud, my infant was crying and I was getting stressed out.

“Then a man noticed my predicament and walked over to the vehicle in front of mine, got the driver to back out of her parking space (which she had pulled into as I was loading my kids in the car) and then motioned for me to pull through, which solved my problem and also really brightened my day. It may seem like a small thing, but it was huge for me. I really appreciated that he noticed the problem and then helped me solve it.”

A kind mechanic

Story told second-hand about Stacy F.

“She and her family, including a football player from BYU, were driving back from San Diego from the BYU bowl game on Christmas Eve. Their car broke down in Fillmore. They met with a mechanic there who tried desperately to get it fixed in time for the family to get back home for Christmas. The mechanic called another mechanic to see if they could do anything, but they said they would need to wait until the following Tuesday.

“After more time working on the family vehicle, the mechanic called up the family and offered them his vehicle to travel back home to Syracuse. He also did not charge for working on Christmas Eve. They finally returned the mechanic’s vehicle about two weeks later.”
