OGDEN — For the fifth time in history, Ogden will have a postseason football team.

Weber State earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division I FCS playoffs Sunday, and will play Chattanooga in the first round Nov. 26 in the Wildcats’ first bid in seven years.

The Wildcats (7-4) finished the regular season ranked No. 25 in the final Stats LLC FCS national rankings, and qualified for the playoffs since making back-to-back appearances in 2008 and 2009.

“We’re really excited to make the playoffs and have our season continue,” Weber State head coach Jay Hill said in a statement. “This team, especially the group of seniors, deserves this opportunity so we are excited to go play Chattanooga. We felt we deserved to get in the playoffs by finishing third in the Big Sky and we’ve accomplished a lot this season and glad to keep playing.”

Weber State sealed a 7-4 season with Saturday’s 34-28 win over Idaho State, and the Wildcats also defeated top-25 Cal Poly to earn one of four bids from the Big Sky Conference. Eastern Washington (10-1) led the way with a No. 2 seed, while Cal Poly will face San Diego with the winner traveling to five-time defending national champion North Dakota State.

NDSU, Eastern Washington, Jacksonville State and James Madison earned the playoffs’ top-four seeds.

The winner of Weber State and Chattanooga (8-3) will travel to undefeated Sam Houston State (11-0). Kickoff is scheduled for noon MST at Chattanooga’s Finley Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
