Have you ever wanted a day or night out on the town only to realize that parking in downtown Salt Lake City is sometimes a nightmare? Never fear, Robert J. DeBry has the perfect solution: Use the Trax Free Fare Zone.

With the help of free public transit, you can visit a number of fun and exciting destinations. As long as you enter and exit the Free Fare Zone during your trip, you can explore the city sites, free of charge.

Read on for a list of the top eight places to visit using the Free Fare Zone.

1. Clark Planetarium

For anything from birthday parties to company events, the Clark Planetarium helps you “see what’s out there.” Located on 110 South and 400 West right near the beginning of the free fare route, there’s plenty to see and do at the planetarium for people of all ages and interests. Choose from among several shows, exhibits and movies to build your astronomy knowledge or just for a fun date night.

2. Temple Square

Owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Temple Square offers countless activities to visitors and residents alike. This 10-acre lot of land is in the heart of Salt Lake City and hosts musical and cultural performances of all types. Whether you want to see the lights at Christmas or just attend a brilliant performance by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, you’ll be glad you put Temple Square on your list of things to see.

3. City Creek Center

Feeling up for some shopping? Don’t worry. If you get tired or hungry during your adventure, City Creek Center has everything to offer. World-class dining and shopping are available along with a beautifully cultivated outdoor breezeway complete with live fish. Between an architecture tour, lunch at the Blue Lemon and fountain shows, you’ll be back just in time to join in feeding the fish.

4. Salt Palace Convention Center

5. Abravanel Hall

Musicians of all types congregate for stunning performances at Abravanel Hall. With plenty of special events and concerts, you can experience the best of symphony and film. Home to the Utah Symphony, Abravanel Hall has seen some serious performers, and that’s not just in the classical music genre.

6. Capitol Theatre

Hosting multiple professional performing groups including Ballet West and Utah Opera, Capitol Theatre is a beautiful landmark that’s been around since 1913. You can view old-fashioned movies, silent films, ballet and theater performances, and the latest blockbuster screening. Come by for a night of revelry and culture while enjoying the turn-of-the-century architecture at the Capitol Theatre.

7. The Gallivan Center

The John W. Gallivan Center recently went through a renovation, and it’s certainly revamped. You can enjoy public celebrations along with festivals and concerts, or book one of the beautiful venues for your wedding. Either way, it’s a great place to visit with a casual stroll or a leisurely afternoon of ice-skating.

8. The City Library

Now you can explore history and culture at The City Library, which has been around long enough to make you feel like a child of the city. Take part in community events, or just come to enjoy an art exhibit of local and acclaimed artists. Everyone can find something to enjoy from film screenings to poetry hour.
