3 ways to stream the presidential debate without cable

SALT LAKE CITY— On Monday, presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will meet for their first debate, which is projected to be the most-watched in history.

The debate begins at 7 p.m. MST and will be moderated by host of NBC’s Nightly News, Lester Holt.

The debate will be broadcasted on NBC and will also be streamed on several platforms and websites.

Social Media

Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are all providing streaming options for Monday’s debate.

Facebook has partnered with ABC to broadcast the event through Facebook Live. Twitter has partnered with Bloomberg TV to cover the debate and will be streaming it through debates.twitter.com

YouTube has announced it will be streaming presidential debates from news organizations including NBC News, Fox News, The Washington Post, Bloomberg TV and Telemundo.

Although the app will not exactly be streaming the debate, Snapchat is guaranteed to have plenty of coverage of the candidates and behind the scenes.

Other streaming options

News outlets including KSL.com, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Politico, BuzzFeed, CNN and The Huffington Post will be streaming the debate on their websites.

Multiple news organizations will also offer coverage of the debate on their mobile apps, including CNNgo and the Fox News app.

Virtual reality

NBCNews.com and AltspaceVR partnered to launch Virtual Democracy Plaza on Sept. 21, which hosts virtual reality events in Rockefeller Center, including live Q&A discussions with political experts, political comedy shows and debate watch parties.

The presidential debate will be available in virtual reality on Sept. 26 at 9 p.m. for those who have the Altspace VR app on Occulus Rift, Samsung Gear VR or HTC Vive.

Keep in mind that although many media organizations will be streaming the event live, some may require a cable subscription.
