PROVO, Utah (AP) — The State Records Committee has ordered Utah County to provide public email addresses to all its employees.

The Daily Herald reports that County Commissioner Larry Ellertson says the county is delaying immediate action because it hasn't yet received the official ruling.

The committee's Tuesday decision is a response to resident Mark Allen's petition for the email addresses of county employees who were invited to a December 2015 party.

Allen says the ruling is a good sign for transparency and accountability in Utah. He is the co-founder of Protect and Preserve American Fork Canyon, which wants the emails to investigate the possibility of unethical private donations being used for the seasonal party.

Allen says Commissioner Greg Graves denies the allegations.

Graves did not immediately return calls from The Daily Herald.
