Antelope Island fire reaches nearly 14K acres, 80 percent contained

The fire at Antelope Island grew by more than 1,000 acres Sunday after raging for much of the day Saturday. It reached nearly 14,000 acres, stretching toward the historic Fielding Garr Ranch. Multiple out of state crews have been called in to help and fire crews were able to gain the upper hand on the fire.

The fire was 80 percent contained as of 9 p.m. Sunday, fire officials said.

3 injured after UTV explodes, sparks wildfire in American Fork Canyon

Lone Peak Fire District said two individuals injured were taken to American Fork Hospital. The other individual injured, a 7-year-old child, was taken to University of Utah Burn Center.

Holladay woman dies rock climbing in Maple Canyon

A Holladay woman died Saturday after falling 60 feet while rock climbing in Maple Canyon, according to the Sanpete County Sheriff's office.

Men accused of narrowly missing 2-year-old during shooting spree charged

Joseph Villagrana, 20, of Murray, and Luiz Miguel Valadez, 23, of Salt Lake, were charged in 3rd District Court with 17 counts of illegal discharge of a firearm, a third-degree felony; aggravated assault, a third-degree felony; obstruction of justice, a class A misdemeanor; and vehicle burglary, a class A misdemeanor. In addition, Valdez was charged with assault on a police officer, a second-degree felony, and failing to stop at an officer's command, a third-degree felony.

1 dead in apparent Cedar City homicide; police search for suspect

A 27-year-old suspect remains at large following an apparent homicide Sunday morning, police said.

Mark Mair is a suspect in the case, but fled the scene and it is believed he left the area. Mair is described as 5-foot-7 with stocky build, brown, short-cropped hair and has a soul patch on his chin, according to the CCPD. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone who may have any information regarding Mair's whereabouts should not approach him and instead call CCPD at 435-586-2956.
