The heat is on! Make sure you’ve got a cool place to relax at the end of your adventures in the summer sun with these quick tips from the HVAC professionals at Accurate Heating and Air Conditioning, just one of the professionals listed on KSL Local.

Change your filter frequently

When was the last time you changed your air filter? If the answer is somewhere between “last winter” and “um…that thing has a filter?” You may want to take a look at it. Sean from Accurate Heating and Air Conditioning says that he recommends changing (or at least checking) the filter monthly in the summer and every other month in the winter.

Set it and forget it

If your thermostat has an auto setting, it’s a good idea to use it. If you have a variable speed blower, make sure it’s always in the on position. This prevents huge fluctuations in temperature that force your system to work harder to keep up and cool the house down.

Check your return air vent

Does your house have a return air vent in the basement? These help supply your duct system with already cooler air that doesn’t need much cooling from your AC unit. If you don’t have one, call a professional from KSL Local to help.

Take a look outside

The AC unit on the outside is hardly just a beautiful piece of machinery that adds that extra something to your yard. This guy generally keeps things moving in your HVAC system. Sean says to take a look and make sure that it’s not clogged with dirt and weeds. It’s also not too late to have a professional come out for some seasonal maintenance to make sure your coolant levels are right and everything is in working order.

If you find yourself in a home where the temperature is rising and your air conditioner is letting you down, be sure to call in the pros right away. To find someone who won’t keep you waiting, is priced right and gets good reviews, always check KSL Local.
