THE TRACK — In case you’ve been living under a rock, let me be the first to inform you that the Rio Olympics 2016 are upon us.

We will all soon be glued to our televisions watching athletes who are the best of the best compete in a myriad of events. They will impress us with seemingly impossible feats, like jumping 6 feet in the air, breaking swim world records and twirling around bars at breakneck speeds.

Some athletes will have incredible stories of rising above trials and tribulations to make their Olympic dreams come true. While those stories are certainly inspiring, they often can’t hold a candle to the stories of each and every competitor in the Paralympics.

To remind you of this fact, Channel 4, the official broadcaster of the Paralympics in the UK, released a 3-minute promotional video called “We’re the Superhumans,” which showcases UK para-athletes competing in the 2016 Rio Paralympics.

The video is seriously a must-watch. The Frank Sinatra homage theme is entertaining but does not distract from the strength and power of every athlete featured. Then, of course, the video turns to themes that may make you a little misty-eyed, like heavily implying that para-athletes are inspiring future para-athletes.

For a list of the featured athletes, check out the video description. And to learn about the incredible drummer, Alvin Law, who opens the video, watch this.

The Rio Paralympics 2016 will take place Sept. 7-18. Martha Ostergar is the former Video Productions Manager of KSL.com.
