WEST VALLEY CITY — West Valley police were investigating the stabbing death of a woman Monday night.
A family member discovered the woman dead in the backyard of a home at 2960 S. Mountain Goat Way (7170 West) about 9:15 p.m., West Valley police said.
The 34-year-old woman suffered multiple stab wounds, according to police. Several people in the house were detained for questioning.
Police were called to the house earlier in the day to investigate a report of shots being fired there. Officers found a casing on the street but could find no damage, police said.
Investigators did not know Monday if the woman lived at the home or if she had been killed there.
As of late Monday night, there were no suspects identified in the case.
No other information about the case was available late Monday, including the identity of the woman and the circumstances that led to her death.
