SPANISH FORK — Super stars who are all part of special education programs in the Nebo School District were each paired with their own peer buddy Thursday for a day of track and field events.

"It's great," said Bryson Riley, a student at Maple Mountain High School. "You run with the kids and it's really fun because they enjoy it."

This is the seventh year that students with special needs have been able to enjoy this track meet, which is organized by the Maple Mountain track team.

"It teaches our kids that service the best thing they can take with them when they are through here that serving other people it is a fulfilling thing to do," said Dave Boyack, the athletic director at Maple Mountain High School.

From the softball throw, to the 400 meter dash-- and even the high jump these kids enjoyed a great day outside, in what the track team believes is their best meet of the year.

Melissa Forbush's daughter Avery is in first grade and couldn't get enough of the long jump.

"You see these kids come and love and treat your children special," said Forbush. "That is something that is completely priceless as a parent."
