CLEARFIELD — Family and friends of 18-month-old Ethan Antes remembered the toddler during a vigil at Fisher Park in Clearfield Tuesday night.
Dozens held orange balloons and candles as family members spoke to the crowd about the little boy. Ethan's step-grandfather, Jason McCalmant, talked about his infectious smile.
"He was the glue that held our family together. He brought us together during a crisis and it's a tragedy he is gone," McCalmant said. "It was a selfish act that took him away."
Unified Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the boy's death.
Ethan was found facedown in a bathtub Friday and later died in the hospital on Sunday. Investigators are looking into whether the toddler was abused multiple times before he died.
Documents show police know of at least two incidents this year where he was injured. Both cases were reported as accidents.
The boy's stepfather, Codey Jolley of Millcreek, has been booked into jail for the death. Jolley claims he forgot the boy was in the bath.
