Victim in Washington Terrace murder identified

Weber County Sherrif's Office has identified the victim killed in her Washington Terrace apartment Friday night as Lindsay Brown Holbrook.

Holbrook's body was found just before midnight when deputies and investigators responded to the Woodland Cove Apartments, 374 E. Ridgeland Drive.

Her family issued a statement Sunday, while also asking for privacy during this difficult time.

"Lindsay was a loving mother, amazing aunt, wonderful sister, and she had an incredible sense of humor. She is loved by a lot of people and will be greatly missed.”

SLC cop among 6 to get audience with President Obama

A Salt Lake City Police Department sergeant got the opportunity of a lifetime, as one of six officers across the country chosen to speak with President Barack Obama about police relations with the people they serve and community-oriented policing efforts.

“The president seemed most interested in how to develop trust among, between the public and police,” Sgt. Charli Goodman told a group of reporters Friday.

Goodman was in Washington, D.C., Tuesday for the meeting, which also featured officers from California, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey and Washington.

The annual Delta Snow Goose Festival was held Friday and Saturday, giving residents and tourists an opportunity to see thousands of migrating white snow geese.

The snow goose is a migratory bird that spends its summers in Canada and its winters in the southern United States and Mexico, according to the Division of Wildlife Resources website. During the northern migration, thousands of snow geese pass through Utah and congregate near Delta for a “rest stop,” the DWR said.

Woman allegedly kills husband in domestic abuse

A father of four was killed in his home late Friday, and his wife was questioned about the incident.

Tiana Hitesman called police just before 10 p.m., saying she had shot her husband, according to Utah County Sheriff Lt. Erik Knutzen. He said officers arrived at the home, located on the 4100 East block of Parkers Place, where officers found Elwin Dale Hitesman, 33, deceased on the living room floor.

Two shots were fired from a revolver, both of which struck the man, Knutzen said. Police believe domestic violence was involved, and that the woman shot Hitesman in self-defense.

Special-needs cheer squad prepares for national performance

Jazzy Holman, a young woman with special needs, shares her story of why she decided to join the Elite Academy's Angels cheer squad. The Angels will perform in California at the end of March. Jazzy's team is currently asking for donations.
