OGDEN — The Logan Grizzlies picked up a convincing win Tuesday, beating Provo 70-50 in a lopsided first round victory of the boys tournament.

Logan jumped to a 21-8 lead in the first quarter, giving the Grizzlies an early lead. The two teams were fairly matched the remainder of the game as they traded baskets. Logan outscored Provo by 7 points in the remainder of the game, giving the Grizzlies a 20-point victory.

“I felt like our guys played really well defensively together and limited them to one possession at a time,” Logan head coach Logan Brown said. “It felt like we did a good job at containing their big guys, getting rebounds and playing team basketball.”

Logan’s Tyler Brimhall led all scores with 30 points. He added 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists in the win.

Provo head coach Craig Drury coached his last game Tuesday after declaring earlier in the month that this year would be his last as a head coach. Drury finishes a 32-year career with 546 wins and eight state championships.

“There’s not a coach in the state that I respect more than Craig Drury,” Brown said. “To understand what that guy has done to this state and the impact he’s made, I’m very humbled to be a part of it — to be able to play him. I’ve learned a lot from him over the years. He’s a legend.”

The Grizzlies will play the winner of the Kearns-Timpanogos game on Thursday at 5:50 p.m. at the Dee Events Center in Ogden.
