SALT LAKE CITY — The last couple of months have been extremely difficult for the Meguerditchain family.

On Dec. 12, Zaven Meguerditchian, 4, and his mother, Rashelle Meguerditchian, 31, died in a head-on collision in South Jordan.

Just a few weeks before the tragic accident, the family was forced out of their home when an underground sewer line broke and backed up into their house.

But thanks to several acts of kindness, the home has gone through an amazing transformation.

Josh Morozin has been heartbroken ever since he heard the tragic news that his lifelong friend Levon Meguerditchian's wife and young son were killed in a car accident.

He started contacting people to see if they could help make repairs to the sewer line because the family hadn’t been able to make them — then came the tragic accident.

Morozin contacted Scott Hale plumbing, and on Dec. 18, employees with the company repaired the pipe free of charge. On Monday, the trench was filled.

While the cause of the problem was fixed, there was still a lot of work to be done inside the house. The family’s insurance didn’t cover the cost of fixing the damage the flooding caused in the living room, bedrooms, kitchen and bathrooms.

It took a team effort from people who wanted to help the family.

“I felt really strongly about it because we all have families,” said Ian Furse, with Whipple Service. “I can’t fathom what Levon has been through, what his daughter has been through, what the rest of the family has been through.”

Thank-yous from a Meguerditchian family friend:

"We have had so many people reach out to help the family. You are all angels in our eyes. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for wanting to give and help the Megurditchian family. We want to give a big thank you to everyone, especially those listed below. We apologize for anyone that was missed.

"IAN: You are a living angel here on Earth. Thank you for giving everything to help a family in need, one of which you had never met before this week.

Furse asked his boss for the day off so he could help, but his company decided he wouldn’t be the only one helping with the project.

“Whipple put together all the drywall, all the paint, all the cosmetic things,” Morozin said.

Jon Namba owns a small flooring business and said he'd been blessed this year and wanted to give back.

"It gives you that peace in your heart, that love in your heart that you've done something good for someone else, and I tell you what, you can't beat the feeling,” Namba said.

Others joined in to simply help clean.

“I want to give to people that need it, and it is Christmastime and I felt like they needed everyone," said Whitney Luna. "It meant a lot to me seeing that and being able to help."

Levon Meguerditchian and his daughter came home Monday to see the incredible transformation.

While the house may still feel empty, the repairs inside will always remind the family of the love of the community.

"No matter how much this place changes, there will always be memories of Rashelle and Zaven,” said Taline Meguerditchian, Levon Meguerditchian’s niece.
