SALT LAKE CITY — The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the renovations and rededications of two LDS temples.

The Idaho Falls Idaho Temple will close on March 16, 2015, and will not open until October 2016, according to a news release.

Members are encouraged to attend the Rexburg Idaho Temple during the closure, and rededication information will be announced shortly before the temple is completed.

Latter-day Saints from eastern Idaho and western Wyoming serve in the Idaho Falls Temple, which has been open since September 1945.

The Freiberg Germany Temple will be closed from Feb. 9, 2015 to May 2016.

This will be the second time the temple has been renovated. It was previously renovated and rededicated in 2002.

The Frankfurt Germany Temple will accommodate members from the Freiberg Germany Temple District during the closure.
