NEW YORK (AP) — The Montreal Impact selected Sporting Kansas City goalkeeper Eric Kronberg with the first pick Friday in Stage 1 of the MLS re-entry draft.

Kronberg was 7-8-5 with a 1.55 goals-against average and seven shutouts last season.

In the only other selections, the San Jose Earthquakes used the second overall pick to take Kansas City goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum, and Toronto FC used the sixth pick to take Real Salt Lake forward Robbie Findley.

Players not selected in Stage 1 are eligible for Stage 2 on Thursday. In Stage 1, teams must pick up existing contract options. In Stage 2, teams can renegotiate contracts.
