PROVO — If you are in the mood to get spooked this Halloween, Utah offers a wide variety of some fairly scary haunted houses and venues for adults. Here is a list of four “haunted” areas that you should check out before or on Oct. 31.

Haunted Forest in American Fork

The Haunted Forest is based on the story of two men who stumbled upon a Gypsy camp while riding through a forest, according to the Haunted Forest website. The Gypsies began to chase the men and they rode further and further into the forest to escape, according to the Haunted Forest website. The men survived the night, but when they returned the next day to find the camp, the Gypsies had vanished.

It is a unique haunted experience because it takes place outside and winds patrons through a real forest with dead trees and a river. The Haunted Forest is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and from 7:30 p.m. until midnight on Friday and Saturday. The Haunted Forest is open now until Nov. 1.

Cost: $25 general admission for the Haunted Forest and Zombie Warz.
Address: 6000 W. 6400 South, American Fork

Asylum 49 =========

Asylum 49 takes patrons on a tour through the “old hospital” in Tooele where terrifying surgeries are taking place. Asylum 49 cautions people who scare easily to not go through the tour because “you can be touched, grabbed and separated from your group,” according to the website.

Asylum 49 is open Tuesday through Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Address: 140 E. 200 South, Tooele
Cost: General admission is $20

Haunted Woods near Roosevelt ============================The Haunted Woods takes patrons through an old Western ghost town, the “lost trails” that wind disorientingly through the woods, underground tunnels and a clown house. The Haunted Woods opened in 1998 on White Rocks Road between Fort Duchesne and Roosevelt, and has been scaring people ever since.

The Haunted Woods is open Friday and Saturday from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. It is open from now until Oct. 25.

Cost: Ages 9 and under is $5 per person, 10 and older is $10 per person.

Doll House Haunt ================

The Doll House Haunt was based on the story of a person known as the “doll keeper” who has built a dollhouse for toys, according to founder Clint Martin. The toys and dolls come alive at night as dark, terrifying objects. The haunted house is based on childhood fears and children thinking their toys come alive, Martin said.

The Doll House Haunt opened in October and is set outdoors as a “spook alley” with canopy coverings. Family friendly tours are offered Monday through Saturday from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The scary walk-throughs begin at 7 p.m until 10 p.m. on weekdays and from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Cost: Family Fun tours are $5 per person and scary tours are $7 per person. People can pay $1 for re-entry on the same night.
Address: 3604 E. Ranches Parkway, Eagle Mountain

Fear Factory ============

Fear Factory was based on the story of the Portland Cement Works factory becoming haunted after several industrial workers were killed in machinery accidents in the late 1800s, according to the Fear Factory website. Fear Factory opened in 2010 and offers a tour of the factory as well as a zipline ride and a free fall ride.

Parking at the Fear Factory is limited, so patrons can park along 700 West or at the Gateway Mall and get a ride on the “zombie bus.” The bus picks up at the south end of the Gateway Mall every 30 minutes starting at 7 p.m.

The Fear Factory is currently open Thursday to Saturday and will be open Monday through Saturday from Oct. 20 until Nov. 1.
