SALT LAKE CITY — Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will make his first post-campaign appearance on Fox News Sunday, where he describes the presidential election as a roller coaster ride.
"We were on a roller coaster, exciting and thrilling, ups and downs," Romney said in a pre-taped interview with Fox News' Chris Wallace. "But the ride ends. And then you get off. And it's not like, oh, can't we be on a roller coaster the rest of our life? It's like, no, the ride's over."
The interview features Romney and his wife, Ann, as they discuss the presidential election and life after defeat.
Speaking to Politico, Wallace said, "It's not a softball interview. There are plenty of tough questions."
"He's in a better place than she is," Wallace said of Ann Romney, who he described as having a harder time with the loss than her husband. "Not to say she's bitter — and she enjoys her life. Look, they live on the beach, north of San Diego and a bunch of their grandkids are around. You know, they've got a pretty great life. But I think she feels the pain and the what-ifs and the hurt more than he does. And it comes through in the interview. There's a lot of emotion that comes through in the interview, and she's more open about it — the 'what might have been.' "

Ann Romney likens the loss to callings the couple have held as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
"In our church, we're used to serving and you know, you can be in a very high position, but you recognize you're serving," she said. "And then all of a sudden, you're released and you're nobody. And we're used to that."
"It was really quite a lot of energy and a lot of passion and a lot of — a lot of people around us and all of a sudden, it was nothing," she continued. "But the good news is fortunately we like each other."
Since losing the election to President Barack Obama in November, Romney has been out of the public spotlight, with few catching glimpses of him at Disneyland and near his home in La Jolla, Calif. Romney will address the Conservative Political Action Conference sometime between March 14-16, which will be his first major public appearance.
Romney's interview with Chris Wallace will be March 3 at 12 p.m. MST and again at 4 p.m. MST on Fox News.
