ELKO, Nev. (AP) — State officials are reviewing security at two Nevada youth detention facilities, amid reports that a 17-year-old became the sixth teen to escape this year from a center near Elko.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports (http://bit.ly/29koLW8 ) the Nevada Department of Child and Family Services aimed to complete a security review ahead of an Aug. 1 implementation date.
It says escapes were reported at the Nevada Youth Training Center in Elko and at the Caliente Youth Center in Lincoln County.
The newspaper says a teen escape June 27 from the Elko facility followed two escapes in March, three in January and two last October.
It says a June 15 date for filing the report was delayed due to technical issues, but that department official Karla Navarro said public release was pending.
