SAN DIEGO (AP) — Public health officials are investigating a suspected norovirus outbreak that caused dozens of people to fall ill after a banquet at a San Diego restaurant.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1OMVwnN) more than 60 cases of people with food-poisoning symptoms were linked to an awards banquet at the Bali Hai Restaurant. The event was held Wednesday by the San Diego Society of Professional Journalists.

The restaurant, known for its Polynesian cuisine, received an "A'' grade for food safety on July 22. Inspectors had only found violations that were considered minor.

Director of the county communications office, Michael Workman, says the restaurant has been thoroughly sanitized and it is safe to eat there.

The restaurant's manager said Monday that they are working with the health department to follow necessary safety measures.
