KEARNS — At least three homes near 6200 South and 4200 West were briefly evacuated Saturday night after police say officers found an object that looked like a bomb.

Officers from the West Jordan Police Department went to the home at 6173 South Cumulus Circle to follow up on a suspect, according to Unified Fire Authority spokesman Jared Norton. That suspect was taken into custody, and officers were searching the home when they came across the suspicious looking device, he said.

Evacuations began just before 9 p.m. as bomb technicians were called to the home to X-ray the device. Once they confirmed that it was not a bomb, everyone was to return home.
