MIDVALE — Police are asking for help in the search for a wanted man who has eluded them multiple times.
At about 1:35 p.m. Saturday, officers from the Unified Police Department followed up on a tip that Cody James Carpenter, 30, was traveling to a residence in Midvale, according to detective Jared Richardson.
Officers located and stopped a vehicle Carpenter was riding in as a passenger, and Carpenter fled on foot, Richardson said.
Carpenter also escaped police July 30 on a stolen motorcycle and again on Aug. 1 in a different vehicle, according to Richardson. Both chases were terminated due to the speeds of the vehicles and traffic conditions.
A containment area was set up and a K-9 unit was assisting police in looking for Carpenter in a neighborhood near 7504 South Southcrest Circle on Saturday, before UPD cancelled the search.
Carpenter is described by police as 5 foot 10 with a slender build. He has blue eyes, a shaved head and a tattoo by his left eye.
Anyone with information about the location of Carpenter is asked to call UPD at 801-743-7000.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
