ENTERPRISE, Washington County — Firefighters are working to control a wildfire in Utah’s Color Country.

Crews are managing a fire 15 miles southwest of Enterprise and 6 miles southwest of Enterprise Reservoir.

The 840-acre lightning caused fire began at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said. No roads have been closed, but fire officials are requesting the public’s assistance in keeping the area clear for fire crews to work.

Bureau of Land Management officials said the blaze was considered very active and zero percent contained. The fire is burning dry cheatgrass, mixed brush, pinyon and juniper trees, along with black brush, officials said.

Various types of firefighting resources have been assigned to fight the fire, including three “hot shot” crews, several large fire engines, a chopper and three air tankers.

Starting Sunday, an incident management team will transition the wildfire, along with the Cottonwood and Middle Ridge wildfires, which are located in Nevada, into the MGC Complex, officials said.

No evacuations or injuries have been reported.
