NEPHI — A motor home pulling a boat was hit by oncoming traffic, causing the RV to jump the median, police said.

On Friday around noon, a motorhome traveling northbound on I-15 was attempting to make a U-turn to travel southbound near mile marker 219 when a Toyota Highlander traveling southbound hit the driver's door. The motor home accelerated, crossed the median and jumped over southbound travel lanes. It then went down an embankment on the west side of the road, police said.

The occupants of the motor home were husband and wife Greg Tuoti, 52, and Shivonne Tuoti, 44, of Springville.

The Highlander was driven by 37-year-old Neri Diaz. Passengers were Monica Pletez, 33 , and Erickson Diaz, 10, Nery Diaz, 14, and Angelynn Diaz, 2, all from Holladay. Angelynn was flown to Primary Children's Hospital for observation, but is in stable condition.

Four others were transported to Central Valley Medical Center, treated and released, police said. It was unclear who the injured were.

"UHP wishes to remind all drivers that making a U-turn on any freeway is illegal and extremely unsafe," a release from the Utah Highway Patrol said. "The marked median turn areas are for emergency vehicles only and are clearly posted as such. All drivers must go to the next exit if they need to turn around and head the other direction."
