SALT LAKE CITY — Police arrested one person and searched for another following a robbery at a casino in West Wendover and a high-speed chase in the Salt Lake Valley.

The crime spree started in West Wendover where police say two people robbed a casino then fled.

Police caught up with the alleged getaway car on I-80 and said the driver threw something out of the window around mile marker 90. Investigators were searching that area for a weapon possibly used in the robbery.

Police chased the car through Tooele County and into Salt Lake County, where it exited the freeway on Bangerter Highway. Police said they saw one person jump from the car in that area.

Eventually the car plowed into a field near 13400 South and 6500 West, and officers arrested the driver, Elbert Woodson, 38 . A witness said the car was airborn for about 10 feet when it crashed. Authorities said the pursuit reached speeds close to 120 miles per hour.

Investigators towed the car out of the field, and the FBI began processing it for prints.

Officers continued to search for the passenger that jumped out of the car near I-80 and Bangerter Highway.

No details of the casino robbery were immediately available.

Updates will be posted as they become available.
