PLEASANT VIEW, Weber County — A combination of alcohol and crossing a busy street in the dark outside of a crosswalk were contributing factors in a fatal auto-pedestrian accident over the weekend.

A 46-year-old man was crossing 2700 North at 500 West in Pleasant View about 9:15 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by a vehicle, said Police Chief Scott Jackson.

The name of the man was not released pending notification of family.

Jackson said detectives were still looking into the accident, but the preliminary investigation indicated that no charges would be filed against the 26-year-old driver.

Investigators believe the victim had been drinking before he attempted to cross the five-lane thoroughfare.

Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.
