SYRACUSE — A 20-year-old man from Syracuse who died Saturday afternoon after crashing into a telephone pole has been identified, said the Syracuse Police Department.
Around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Taylor Johnston was driving on 1700 South near 3400 West in Syracuse, according to Syracuse Police Department Officer Erin Behm.
He tried to pass another vehicle and went into oncoming traffic. Behm said Johnston braked and swerved back into the lane. He overcorrected and hit a telephone pole.
Johnston was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The Utah Highway Patrol was called in to assist with the investigation and are unsure what was the cause of the accident. They said speed and weather are possible factors.
