CEDAR CITY — A man who police say was “repeatedly kicked and stomped” in Cedar City on Wednesday has died at a hospital in Las Vegas.

Officers responded to assault in progress call at about 8:12 a.m. on October 9. When they arrived, they found Bryan Mahue Mellor, 59, severely injured on the sidewalk.

Mellor was air lifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he passed away on Saturday afternoon due to his injuries.

Police arrested Brandon Sappington, 30, at the scene on charges of attempted murder, assault on a police officer and interference with arrest. Officials said that more or amended charges may be filed by the Iron County Attorney's Office.
