PINEVIEW, Weber County — A woman was in critical condition after crashing into an embankment near Pineview Reservoir Tuesday, police said.

It took 15 minutes to get her out of the vehicle, investigators said. There were no other occupants in the car.

A fisherman reported the incident at 1:54 p.m., police said.

"He called 911 after hearing what he described as a large explosion-type noise and seeing a large cloud of dust," Lt. Mark Lowther of the Weber County Sheriff's Office.

When the fisherman walked to where he had seen the cloud of dust, he saw a red S10 Chevy Pickup lying on the shoreline of Pineview Reservoir, Lowther said.

Lowther said the incident looks like an attempted suicide. They received a call from Clearfield police at 1:11 p.m. about a police about a woman trying to commit suicide; the car at the scene matched the description they received, police said.

The woman was transported by air after she was stabilized in critical condition.
