VERNAL — A Vernal man whose body was found in his apartment earlier this month had been strangled, police said Wednesday.
Officers responding to a July 6 report of a burglary at the Pheasant Glen Apartments, 1350 W. 100 North, found Christopher Alan Miller on the floor in the living room of his apartment.
"There were injuries consistent with an altercation, but the cause of death was strangulation," Assistant Vernal Police Chief Keith Campbell said Wednesday.
Miller, 52, had been sharing his apartment with a co-worker for six days at the time of his death, Campbell said. It was a temporary arrangement, according to the assistant chief, and the co-worker planned to move out after he received his first paycheck and could afford a place of his own.
Police have not released the co-worker's name, but he is considered a "person of interest" in Miller's death, Campbell said. The man has not been arrested.
Detectives have taken forensic evidence to the state crime lab for testing. It's not known when those tests will be complete, Campbell said.
"You can't rush the science," he said.
