RIVERTON — About two dozen drivers spent Saturday evening chasing and smashing into each other.
At the Riverton Rampage demolition derby Saturday, hundreds packed into the rodeo arena on 12300 South, despite the rain. The sold-out crowd cheered on the junker cars resuscitated for the occasion.
The winner — that is, the last car running — of the derby received $3,000 as a prize.
Event organizers said that because of the big crowd and generous sponsors, they were able to pay out a total of $14,000 in the derby.
