SALT LAKE CITY — Summer holidays often mean a picnic or barbeque complete with a delicious dessert. But how do you keep the fun and flavor up, and the fat content down while celebrating?

Diane Sheya, the culinary director at the Viking Cooking School, is here to prove to all of us that we can have a little something sweet in our diet and still maintain those health goals, even those weight loss goals.

She recommends grilling fruit with a little bit of olive oil for a sweet treat.

"Pineapple is absolutely delicious. And as the stone fruits — peaches and nectarines come on the market — slice that in half, take out the pit, put a little bit of oil on it so it won't stick to your grill, slap that on there and absolutely fantastic," Sheya said.

But if you just need a cookie, she recommends using a recipe that replaces butter with tahini paste — sesame seed paste used in hummus.
