SALT LAKE CITY — Police say a man who shot another man in the leg following an armed robbery is on the loose.
Saturday, around 8:30 p.m., a man allegedly robbed a restaurant at 1320 South Swaner Road (2200 West) by gun point. As he left the building, an employee followed, enlisting the help of two people who had just parked a car in the parking lot.
They began pursuing the robber southbound on foot, at which point he turned around and fired at least one round. One of the men from the vehicle received a gunshot wound in his leg.
Police were called, and upon arriving, administered medical attention to the victim, who is believed to be in his 20s. He was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
As of Saturday night, no further information was available about the burglary. Witnesses described the robber as a Hispanic man in his early 20s, wearing a white jersey-style shirt with black lettering.
It is believed he may have gotten into a vehicle and left the scene that way. Witnesses did not have a description of the vehicle, as they could only hear it behind a building.
Anyone with information about the robbery or robber is asked to call Salt Lake City Police at 801-799-3000.
