SALT LAKE CITY — First-run episodes of Saturday Night Live will begin airing on KSL-TV this fall.
In accordance with NBC's programming schedule, KSL-TV airs reruns of SNL on Saturdays at 9 p.m. before the 10 p.m. news. Starting Sept. 28, 2013, the station will add first-run episodes at 10:30 p.m. to its programming schedule.
"This move is part of a broader plan to strengthen KSL Television's program schedule and relationship with our valued network partner," KSL-TV stated. "We are excited about the new fall season of NBC shows that will premiere in September and the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympics from Sochi, Russia."
When KSL became an NBC affiliate in 1995, the station chose not to carry SNL due to its very successful sports programming. KSL-TV feels that first-run episodes of SNL will complement the existing programming.
First-run episodes of SNL have appeared on KUCW in the Utah area.
NBC said it was pleased with the station's move to include the 39th season of SNL, and said, "we tremendously value our partnership with the station."
